Spirits are soaring in Nova Scotia.
The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation just released its yearly sales numbers and they are up across the board.
Most notable, is growth in homegrown products.
NSLC spokesperson Denise Corra says there is an increased awareness around Nova Scotian products.
“When they[customers] come to our store, they certainly ask us for local products. The products are great.”
Nova Scotia wine, cider and craft beer sales are all up.
Corra says the largest increase is sales of Nova Scotian spirits which saw a 177% increase in sales.
“We have 12 distillers in the province making really great products. We have a lot of really great local distilled products on the market right now.”
Several local distillers won medals at the World Spirits Competition in San Fransisco this spring.
Overall, alcohol sales in Nova Scotia totalled $607 million last year
