The hours of operation at the post office in Riverport are reducing.
Canada Post has conducted a review of customer use and determined very few people visit the post office between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m and after 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
The corporation has decided to change the opening time to 9:15, closing at 4:30 p.m effective April 3.
Spokesperson Phil Legault says it’s a minor schedule adjustment.
“The new mail for the day doesn’t actually arrive until 9:30, that’s certainly an element of it.The traffic patterns weren’t going to the post office to pick up their mail that early, so they weren’t going to the retail counter at that time.”
Legault says there is a little bit of cost savings with the change in hours.
Postal box customers will continue to have full access to their mail 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The new hours of operation at the Riverport post office as of April 3 will be:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 9:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday – 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.
