Premier-elect Stephen McNeil will announce his new cabinet during a ceremony on Thursday.
McNeil along with other designated members of cabinet will be sworn in by Lieutenant Governor J.J. Grant.
One of those who could be among the cabinet is Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey.
The second term provincial politician has previous experience in cabinet as Minister of Business, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Minister of Municipal Affairs.
Furey says he’s hopeful he met expectations and will return.
“But, I do the best I can to fulfill the roles and responsibilities as the MLA for Lunenburg West and if that’s the responsibility I have going forward than I’m more than pleased and proud to continue in that role.”
Furey says he is eager to fulfill any portfolio should the Premier-elect approach him.
“It’s an exciting environment to be in. There’s huge opportunities for Nova Scotia; huge opportunity specifically in those most difficult portfolios, challenging portfolios of health and education.”
Other local Liberals that could be named to cabinet include Lunenburg MLA-elect Suzanne Lohnes-Croft, Chester-St. Margaret’s MLA-elect Hugh MacKay and Yarmouth MLA-elect Zach Churchill.
Thursday’s ceremony will be held at 10:30 at Pier 21 in Halifax.
There will be a live webcast of the ceremony at novascotia.ca .
