Residents of the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg will decide the fate of the Municipal Administration Building.
Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says the 47 year old building on Aberdeen doesn’t meet provincial acessibility standards.
“We had a staff member that broke her leg in the last year,” she said.
“We ended up taking doors off bathrooms to make it wheelchair accessible so that she could actually get from her work desk to the bathroom.”
Bolivar says air quality, heating systems and general accessibility have all become issues and at this point they have two options, either renovate, or build brand new.
MODL will be holding meetings will be held to discuss the cost and details of both plans this Monday and Thursday the 16th in council chambers.
