The CEO of Bay Ferries feels its marketing strategy is on the right track.
This, after some very positive numbers for the Cat ferry were released by the City of Portland.
They indicate the high speed vessel carried 18,366 passengers in August.
That’s up over 5,000 from July when the cat carried 13,315 passengers
Mark MacDonald tells Acadia News they have multiple tools to track marketing success.
“We have a team of people, including Rick Wilson in Yarmouth, who are watching this on an hourly and daily basis and then we are adjusting our marketing programs as we go. We’re happy that things are moving in the right direction but we want to keep on making progress. Having said that, we are making progress and that’s a good thing.”
MacDonald says they’re on a good track but it can always be better.
Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill says there’a a lot of momentum behind the Cat ferry service.
“It’s having an impact on our economy. We have seen a complete revitalization of our tourism sector. The demand for rooms in Yarmouth and Acadian Shores is at an all time high right now. We’re actually seeing that impact Airbnb’s, more people opening up spaces in their homes to accommodate all the people that are coming over here.”
