Dylan Langille here. Langille pronounced phonetically *LAN-JILL* Easy, right?
Langille is a common name in Nova Scotia. Elsewhere, not so much.
While on vacation in the U.S.A., I had a few questions about the pronunciation of my last name. It’s literally foreign to most in the states on the west coast. When some people looked at my licence they would say *LAN- GILL*…some needed a hand. I take no offence. As an announcer both in radio and auto racing, I’ll always check with somebody how their name is pronounced.
The funniest pronunciation was actually back in Canada. Getting on my overnight flight, the airline worker who checked my passport said “Have a nice flight, Mr. *LAAN-GILLES*” French accent and everything. I was so flattered!
Don’t even get me started on telemarketers. I’m known as Mr. Lan-Gill-ee
