If you have any pink in your wardrobe, today is the day to wear it in support of “Pink Shirt Day”
It all started 14 years ago at Central Kings Rural High when David Shepherd and Travis Price, saw a fellow student being bullied for no other reason than that they were wearing a pink shirt. These two got together and decided to take a stand against bullying by getting everyone at their school to wear a pink shirt the next day. Pretty neat that two students from rural Nova Scotia started this movement to end bullying and the concept spread throughout the world.
It should be a golden rule any day of the year to “THINK” before you speak. I love this as an acronym to use before you speak or post anything. Is what you are going to say or post:
T – True
H – Helpful
I – Inspiring
N – Necessary
K – Kind
What You Should Know About Bullying and Pink Shirt Day
I read an interesting article the other day I thought I would include in this post, where a person that had been bullied reconnected to the bullies in her adult life. Having been bullied myself in high school, I always thought about what that would be like. It is worth a read to see what was happening in the lives of those that seemed to have it all together. Remember, as hard as it can be to do so, you never know what the other person is going through even if the result is them not being nice to you.

This is a great video to help you understand bullying a bit better. Always remember even the smallest action can bring big change, two students from the Valley proved that over a decade ago.
