Cooler mornings are definitely a reminder that fall is here.
I got my reminder this week when I was urged to get our fall decorations out. That is something we never did when I was growing up but has always been a tradition for my wife’s family. Now if you are not up for decorating your own property, there are a few chances to enjoy those that do.
As the leaves start to turn, the thought of a drive is a welcome one. Nearing the end of another odd year, it is great to see that some things are looking a bit normal. Even though the festival is less packed with events, it is nice to be able to drive through the town and see scarecrows on display with “Fall For Mahone Bay.”
So great to see this seasonal South Shore tradition continuing as the scarecrow festival dates back more than two decades.
‘Fall for Mahone Bay’ is the new Scarecrow Festival
Now this is not the only event that celebrates the art of fall decorating. We are lucky enough to be only a colourful one hour drive away from the fall invasion that happens in the Annapolis Valley. The Kentville Pumpkin People festival is an event that also dates back many years. Speaking of history, this years theme is taking people WAY back to the age of the dinosaurs with “Dino Discovery”. As always the displays don’t disappoint, and there is even an educational aspect with written descriptions for the beasts on display around the pumpkin headed folks.
I even got to live out a life long dream, out running raptors in a jeep. We made it, even though the driver and co pilot are not overly experienced behind the wheel.
There are lots of events planned for this valley event again this year. Check out the details here:
