A 34-year-old man from Caledonia is facing numerous charges after an incident in West Caledonia.
In a release, Queens District RCMP said on Monday at 11:40a.m. police investigating an assault with a weapon complaint were flagged down by two people claiming they had been shot at.
The victims explained to police that had gone to a man’s house to confront him about damage he had done to a family member’s vehicle earlier that day.
After a verbal confrontation, the victims said they went back to their vehicle when the man shot at them with what they believed was a shotgun.
The victims immediately fled the scene and no one was injured.
As police were speaking with the victims, the suspect pulled up in his vehicle and was immediately arrested and held at the Liverpool RCMP Detachment overnight.
Police said the following day a search warrant was conducted at the suspects residence by the Queens District RCMP with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services.
During the search, the weapon believed to have been used in this incident was located along with ammunition, and another weapon believed to have been used in the original complaint prior to the shots fired incident.
As a result, Robert Carl Forrest of West Caledonia, has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, and mischief.
