A Bridgewater Fire Department truck has been returned after spending nearly a year in Cumberland County assisting a department in need.
Engine 4 was lent to the Shinimicas Fire Department after all of their fire trucks and equipment were lost in an April 2020 fire at the station.
Shinimicas Fire Chief, Jesse Brine says being able to borrow the truck from Bridgewater was crucial to the department.
“Prior to having that we didn’t have a truck that was capable of being our primary pumper truck in case of a fire,” explained Brine.
Brine added that the department used the truck less than 24 hours after it’s arrival to respond to a fire call.
He said that since the arrival of a new rescue truck, the department was able to get another truck certified to use as the primary pumper, so Bridgewater’s truck was no longer needed.
“Our members are very grateful that Bridgewater was in that position to have a spare truck to lend us for as long as we needed,” explained Brine. “We are basically forever in their debt.”
Engine 4 arrived back in Bridgewater on Wednesday and is currently on the Town of Bridgewater’s surplus equipment list.
