With the weather warming up I am starting to see more webs appearing in the barn and I was just thinking over the weekend “it won’t be long before the insects wake up and start keeping us company” haha.
Now the last insect blog I did was around the announced arrival of the “Murder Hornets” and so far I have not seen those yet. I hope the same will be true when it comes to the latest critter predicted to be ‘hanging out’ in our part of the world.
Officials say they are harmless to humans and actually scared of us, but for anyone with arachnophobia, 2022 might not be much fun.
Without further ado, please welcome the Joro Spider, or maybe duck and cover your hair. Yes this creature is about the size of a human palm and eats mosquitoes, oh and did I mention it can parachute through the air.
This huge, invasive spider may spread to Canada. Here’s why you shouldn’t panic
Now these spiders invaded Georgia a few years ago and have helped to take down their stink bug numbers. So if we can get these web skydivers eating ticks, that would not be a bad thing.
Officials say we will just have to get used to them, once they make it across the border they will be here to stay. So meet your soon to be neighbours.
