This weekend was a strawberry weekend at our house. Saturday before things got too hot we went picking at Indian Garden Farms. It was good as always to be back at the spot I worked many, many years ago. Our oldest even picked… well he picked 8 berries and ate 4 of them, but still, haha.
So that meant that the berries needed to be looked after over the weekend. We froze some and ate some fresh, just hulled and washed. We also tried to make strawberry candies, dried in the oven. They were not perfect by any means, but something to try.
There are a few interesting ideas for how to enjoy your strawberries here, including in tacos.
12 Ways to Enjoy Strawberries All Summer Long
I always like strawberry preserves and this weekend Mom presented me with my grandmother’s recipes. That tells me two things, I best pick some more berries the next time I hear of another u-pick, AND I best learn how to make my own preserves if I want them, haha.
The recipe looks simple, but time will tell if I can get them in the can. If you are searching for ideas for extending the deliciousness of strawberry season, here are a few options.
