As we get ready to enjoy a long weekend celebrating our great country, I thought today would be a good day to look at some Canadian things.
What does being Canadian mean to you? I know our country is not perfect, but looking around the world, we have it pretty darn good. I have always associated this part of the world with clean air and forest. Not to be cheesy, but the line in Oh Canada, “Ture North Strong and Free” comes to mind when I think of Canada. I also think of an abundance of wildlife. Having had the chance to drive across the country a few times I have seen everything from bears and moose to bison and wolves by the road. Of course you don’t have to go very far to find critters on the road. I actually got up close and personal with a deer this morning on my way in and now have a hairy fender as a result, thanks Bambi… Sorry I was in your way…
Some well know Canadian celebrities were asked what being Canadian meant to them. As we look at their answers we start with a guy that began his public career with Bridgewater radio on our sister station CKBW, Donald Sutherland.
What Being Canadian Means to Me
As the rest of the world looks to us, the jokes are always made of Canada being seen as the home of igloos and polar bears. Moose drinking coffee wearing Canadian toques and beavers playing hockey wearing Canada mittens.
Well we are unique, those aren’t the reasons though, haha. But ketchup chips, butter tarts and maple syrup are things that Canada is known for. Here are a bunch of other defining things our northern country is associated with.
Canadian Things Only Found In Our Great Country To The North
Should you know someone wanting to move to our great country, tell them about this how to video. It should help them pass the citizenship test, haha.
Happy Canada Day!
