We have been seeing big changes in Mahone Bay over the past few years as a beautiful new building has been rising up behind the Mahone Bay Fire Hall and finally they are ready to open the doors for everyone to see. Replacing the existing hall that has served as the department’s home for over 60 years, this new spot is sure to be a focal point in the town. The initial intent was to have the facility open last November to align with the department’s centennial celebrations, but now we get to celebrate this Saturday!
New fire station being built in Mahone Bay
It is exciting to see the Mahone Bay Fire Department’s description of their home become incorrect as they can now stretch out in a great new spot.
This is how they describe their old home on the website.
“We Squeeze Our Two Pumpers ,Tanker, Rescue Pumper,4 Wheel Drive Truck And Rescue Boat In Two Bays! “
I have attended many events at the Mahone Bay Fire Hall over the years. From music shows and weddings, to dances and celebrations of life. It was always extra cozy in there and seeing the trucks tucked inside I was always amazed how they could work with very little room. Not anymore!!
Mahone Bay Fire Department
With this department responding to roughly 100 calls each year, I am sure the firefighters will enjoy backing into a roomy spot when they return to base.
Drop by Saturday and help the Mahone Bay Fire Department celebrate.
