Fat Bear Week 2022 has officially wrapped, and a winner has been crowned following a bit of drama.
What is Fat Bear Week?
Every Year the Katmai National Park in Alaska educates people about Alaskan Brown Bears, which are a sub-set of Grizzlies. The bears hang out around the Brooks River in the park, enjoying the salmon run and plumping up for Winter.
Last week people voted for their favorite Fat Bear, BUT explore.org revealed that they had to recount the votes at one point, because someone “stuffed the ballot box.”
Officials grew suspicious when a Bear named, 435 Holly, received 6,000 votes in a matter of hours. They ended up finding over 9,000 spam votes.
No need to worry though. We have a happy ending. The votes were all sorted out, and a winner has been crowned.
