Heading into a wet fall weekend, might be the time to dig around the internet.
I mentioned it before, I can’t get over all the jobs that are available out there. I remember my Dad talking about the “good ole days” when there were so many jobs that if something was off where you worked, you just walked away and had new employment by the end of day. Seems like that would be the case in today’s work environment too. Promising for those looking for work and frustrating for those needing employees.
When talking with some employers, the work world has certainly changed from days gone by. The idea of just not showing up to work seems so wrong, regardless of the environment at the workplace, but apparently that is all too common now. I wonder if the abundance of employment has allowed people to become less respectful and are employees forgetting work etiquette.
I was talking with one employer the other day, she has been conducting interviews to fill some positions. She was so surprised at the potential employees that came to interviews without a list of references. That has always been a rule when you go to a job interview, you take your resume with you and an important part of your resume is a list of references.
Maybe people have forgotten, maybe they just feel those formalities are no longer necessary with so many potential jobs up for grabs. Whatever the thought of those looking for work might be, know that there are employers that still look for the same things they did when the work world was more competitive. Here are some of those things you should think of:
Everything You Need To Know About Job Interview Etiquette
I remember hearing people talk about certain professions and how scarce positions were. There is something that was once said in a grad speech at NGRHS and I quoted Judge Carver when I had the chance to address the grad class at my old school too. “Regardless of the profession you choose, remember there is always room at the top”
I think that is the best thing to remember when it comes to pursuing dreams and that perfect job.
Whether you are looking for work or searching for workers, good luck.
And finally for some comic relief, this fake but maybe could almost be sort of real interview… Enjoy, haha
