If you would have asked me years ago if I would ever be the guy that would be tending to a cat’s litter box, I would have laughed very loud… But here we are, haha. Tux is worth it!
But like with most things, if there is a better way to do things, why not? Especially if the new way is cheaper, seems like a no-brainer. However this seems like a bit of a big decision, what is the best kitty litter to use?
The reason I bring this up is because I am hearing more and more about using wood pellets for litter boxes instead of litter. During the last donation drive that SHAID had at Shur Gain I was talking with the volunteer about it. She said wood pellets work well and are a lot cheaper. Prior to that I had a friend tell me how much better pellets are than litter when he was stocking up at Buck’s. He told me that wood pellets were better at scent control, while others have stated odor as the only downside to this cost saving practice.
The experts have weighed in with the pros and cons of using wood pellets for litter boxes over actual kitty litter. Now they looked at special pellet litter, while most I have talked with around here just use pellet stove wood pellets. Same stuff, different bag near as I can tell.
CAT LITTER VS PELLETS: WHAT’S THE BEST? HOW DO THEY DIFFER?
When our cat came to the house after being born in a barn, I used sawdust to get him used to the litter box, so I guess wood pellets are not a far stretch from that.
The litter options are endless when it comes to what your feline can be burring their business in. There is a whole half isle at the grocery store with options, not to mention what can be bought online. But I have only ever seen one option for kitty litter that could actually make money for you, haha.
