Another chilly morning as we wake up to zero and some flurries in the forecast for this weekend. I put the snow tires on yesterday and the cooler temperatures are reminding me that the house foundation needs to be banked. The biggest thing though is that Christmas is just over a month away. This weekend the scent of balsam fir is going to be a strong reminder of the fast approaching holiday season as I get to help harvest trees on my uncle’s lot.
I think for me it is the Christmas tree smell that gets me thinking festive thoughts. For others it may be a parade of lights. That would be this Saturday in Halifax, or next Saturday if you plan on catching the Parade of Lights in Bridgewater for Christmas on the Lahave.
Now if you want to get a jump on your preparations, there are a lot of festive markets and Christmassy things planned for this weekend. The details can be found at CJHK.ca/events
I you are up for a drive, there is also a big weekend planned for the Town of Kentville. They have the pumpkin people resting until next year and have now jumped into their Holly Days Festival.
I had the chance to chat with Lindsay from the town about this great event.
