I didn’t mean to wait this long, but here we are. December 12th and looks like today is outdoor illumination day. I always enjoy having lights outside and don’t mind putting them up, but also hate cold fingers and cracked hands and each year I swear I will get it done before the cold weather next year. I hung the wreath yesterday and that was about it so far.
When it comes to decorating with lights, there is nothing worse than getting them up, whether it’s on a tree, or around the house and then have them not work.
The old days with the “power sucker” lights, bulbs were easy to replace, but there was always that one that would break off in the socket just to challenge you. Then of course there are the dreaded mini lights where if one bulb goes out, nothing works. They tease you with these extra lightbulbs too, or so I thought.
Ever notice the mysterious red tipped light attached to that new set of mini lights? It is NOT a replacement for a blown light. Use it for that and you will get a surprise, haha.

Now if you are getting behind with your decorating like I am, here are a few tips that might make things a bit easier this year.
Who would have thought of using the summer tomato cages for small trees? Or garment bags for wrapping paper, and then there are the two different sizes of lights on one tree.
