Back from a stormy weekend that kept most of us close to home, only to see that today is listed as the “most depressing day of the year, Blue Monday.” If you look at the history of the day, some question the scientific evidence of today being the saddest of the year as it was actually created by a travel company almost 20 years ago.

But regardless of whom first recognized this day of sadness, it makes sense that this time of year can be challenging. Christmas and New Year’s celebrations have wrapped up. We don’t see much sunshine. On top of the darkness, the temperatures are often cold, or the conditions unfavorable for enjoying the outdoors. AND the bills from holiday spending are coming due.
If that isn’t enough, the assessment I received in the mail the other day made me depressed to see the huge jump over last year… tax jumps, yay! Any of these things, or the combination of a bunch of them can make you down in the dumps during this month / season.
