A trend that we have been seeing for many years now, what was old is new again.
Looks like 2023 already has a few comebacks to look forward to. I am kind of hoping gas under a dollar a litre will be one of them, but that might be more of a dream and not likely to happen, haha.
Last year we started hearing talk about an iconic store returning to ensure that “the lowest price is the law” once again. Many will still smile when remembering the old days when Zellers was the store that offered just about everything you could think of, even delicious food in the restaurant. Most recently it was announced that Zellers would be “opening” online this year, but now we get even bigger news. Looks like there will be a couple spots in Nova Scotia where you won’t have to scroll virtually, but instead you will be able to walk through physical isles! That’s right, it has been sort of confirmed anonymously and off the record that there are two actual Zellers stores opening in our province THIS YEAR! Nothing confirmed about the restaurant, but the store is coming.

I am hoping my Club Z points are still valid, but that might be wishful thinking.
Continuing on the old is new again theme, one of the things I used to love about Zellers was their music section. Aside from Columbia House, it had to be one of the cheapest spots to get music. Well, what if I told you that you will have the chance to walk into a Zellers store in 2023 and buy a Sony Walkman? No I didn’t have something other than milk in my coffee this morning, this could be reality.
The new Sony Walkman will allow you to download or stream music, and you will never have to use a pencil to rewind the tape so you can enjoy your favorite song again.
So there you go, some good news for 2023 and I am not gonna lie, I hope they print a catalog at Christmas time so we can leaf through it and circle items for a wish list. Imagine, I might finally get a Walkman from Santa… I will try to be good this year and keep my fingers crossed.
