Is there something wrong with me?
Don’t answer that, haha.
What I mean is am I wrong because I don’t get offended by cartoons not wearing pants? I started thinking about this last night after reading the statement from A&W about their mascot and how they will have the bear wearing jeans so that no one is offended by the bare bottom bear. Turns out this was meant as a joke from the restaurant, but why wouldn’t people think this is serious? It was just the other day that M&Ms announced their candy mascots are being replaced because people had a problem with their shoes. Here are the bare bear facts from the A&W pantless bear joke:
A&W Announces ‘Polarizing’ Bear Mascot Will Now Wear Pants In Hilarious Troll
I do wonder, is this the beginning of even cartoons needing to change? AND if that is the case, where will the line be drawn?
Goofy wears pants and walks upright, but is it ok for Pluto not to have pants because he walks on all fours? Or is it that cartoons are only a target if they talk… well if that is the case, then Bambi needs to be R-rated because those woodland animals are wearing nothing but fur coats through the whole movie. The Grinch looks like he might be without pants, until you see him dressing in a green suit that looks like his fur.
I feel foolish even talking about this, but I feel this is a conversation that someone is actually passionately having somewhere. There was a rumor awhile back that Donald Duck was banned in Finland due to his lack of trousers, but that turned out to be “Fake News”. Why was Donald Duck banned in Finland?
I actually did find a post from a couple years ago where someone looked after clothing the bottoms of beloved cartoons. Not sure if I should laugh or cry…
Pants On Some Notoriously Pants-Less Cartoon Characters
Since it matches with the topic and in 11 months from today Christmas music will be wrapping up again on this day, here is a festive pants tune to enjoy.
