February 2nd, the day we look to rodents for there weather predictions. I wonder when the movement will be put forward to rename Groundhog Day to something like Weather Predicting Critters Day so that Lucy the Lobster doesn’t feel left out, haha.
So once the predictions are in today, the focus will shift to love with Valentines Day coming up in less than two weeks. The tradition for Country 100.7 is to celebrate the day of love with the Gift From The Heart Radiothon and this year is no exception. The stage is set for a full day of fundraising for the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore again this year and their Brighter Days Campaign. You can bid on auction items right now at: 2023 Gift From The Heart Radiothon Auction
Now Valentine’s Day is not always a happy occasion. I know I have spent many of them is a less than joyous state over the years. The worst state of mind, or heart to spend February 14th in, has to be newly single or dealing with a less than mutual split.
Well just like we look to critters to predict the weather today, there are critters to help you get through a less than happy Valentine’s Day.
Cry Me A Cockroach is back for 2023!
There are various options with this program in many different areas around the world but basically you get to name an animal’s lunch after your ex and watch it get eaten, haha.
One of the best websites to promote this opportunity is with the San Antonio Zoo. From cockroaches to vegetation alternatives, you choose the level of donation and how involved you want your ex to be with this feeding. For $150 you can even have a video sent to him or her to show the whole ordeal. All I can picture is the goat being eaten by the T-Rex on Jurassic Park, haha.
Now you can instead support a Canadian Zoo for a similar effect with the Toronto Zoo. They have even written some poetry to promote their event where a $25 donation can see your ex’s name bequeathed on a roach. haha
“Roses are red, violets are blue… Is there someone in your life that’s bugging you? Give them goosebumps this Valentine’s Day by naming a cockroach in their honour,”
There are probably some of you reading this thinking, “that seem excessively gruesome” and that is ok too. In the UK you can name a trash bin after your ex for Valentine’s Day.
Name a bin after your ex for Valentine’s Day
I just wonder how long it will be before the yesterday’s news kitty litter folks get into the action, offering the chance for your pet to do their business in shredded pictures of the ex… Hahaha, this is why I work in a padded room on the radio and not at a company developing products.
Happy Critters Predict The Weather Day.
