Not the first time we’ve heard of an artist having to re-record old music due to past record deals. Aka: Taylor Swift recorded ‘Taylor’s Version’ of each of her albums because Scooter Braun bought and sold her master recordings from Big Machine Records back in 2020.
Now it’s Morgan Wallen’s turn.
Morgan signed a music deal over a decade ago without legal representation for his first EP “Stand Alone”. He had 13 songs (all now opened by the label). Only 5 songs were used for the EP, including “Spin you Around”.
For the 10th anniversary of “Stand Alone,” the old label is now planning on releasing all 13 songs.
Morgan feels the songs are not up to his standards anymore, so he’s not happy. He has now re-recorded “Spin You Around” and he released it on the same day as the unauthorized project. He’s hoping people will listen to the new recording and not the old music.
Here it is! Who knows, maybe he’ll re-record the other 12 songs as well.
