The Antigonish Bulldogs are looking to defend the Don Johnson Cup.
They begin the tournament in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland on Wednesday against the St. John’s Caps.
The Bulldogs captured Nova Scotia’s Junior B title for a third-straight year, defeating the South Shore Lumberjacks in the final.
Head Coach Donnie Grant, who is in his fifth season with the club says it was a special year.
“When you’re with a team for a season, you build those relationships. It’s been a special run, and it’s been great to watch the players go through it. We had a great playoff,” said Grant.
It’s the third straight appearance at the Atlantic tournament.
Grant says it’s always a tough event, and the games should be close.
“Even though we see a lot of the same teams over there, it’s always neck-and-neck. It comes down to who’s playing their best hockey and winning games in a short amount of time.”
The Bulldogs had over 1,000 at their final home game, and won the Veterans Cup in front of 1,500 people in Bridgewater.
Grant says it’s an exciting time to be a fan of junior hockey in Nova Scotia.
