Uber will now offer rideshare services to the entire Halifax Regional Municipality from Peggy’s Cove to the Eastern Shore.
The company made the announcement Wednesday.
“As with all expansions, we ask residents and visitors for patience, as we expect wait times to be a bit longer than in the core city,” the company writes in a news release.
The service’s reliability will improve as more people learn of the expansion and more drivers sign up, Uber says.
Jill Boutilier, general manager of Shining Waters Marina in Tantallon, says a lack of transportation options is a barrier for some people, and that makes it harder for the business to grow.
“So we are thrilled to hear that Uber has decided to expand their services to help our patrons get home safely or grab a ride to get items they need to enjoy their time on the bay,” writes Boutilier in the release.
Uber Eats, the food and grocery delivery service, is also expanding its delivery service to Sydney, Truro, New Glasgow and Wolfville.
People will also soon be able to order from Costco in Dartmouth and Halifax using Uber Eats.
