A new statue honouring the legacy of Captain Angus Walters now stands at the Bluenose Golf Club in Lunenburg.
The life-size wooden sculpture was created by DaVinci In Wood, a Nova Scotia-based artist from Hubbards known for crafting detailed custom sculptures for public spaces, television sets, and private collections.
Carved from wood, the piece celebrates Walters’ connection to the community and his legacy as captain of the iconic Bluenose schooner. The club, which overlooks Lunenburg Harbour, says the installation serves as a tribute to one of the town’s most recognized historical figures.

The sculpture is located at the entrance to the club off Tannery Road, greeting visitors and members alike.
Crew from the Bluenose II were on hand as part of the unveiling.
Walters led the Bluenose to international sailing fame and remained deeply rooted in Lunenburg throughout his life.
