The first phase of decommissioning a landfill in Shelburne is almost complete.
The town says the Morvan Road project included monitoring well installation and sampling, with more samples to be collected this fall and next spring.
That work is part of an environmental review to make sure nearby wetlands remain undisturbed.
Capping the site is part of phase two, and a tender has been issued for the work.
The town eventually wants to turn it into a green space for the public.
They say they’ve been working closely with professionals and trying to get funding to make sure everything goes smoothly.
