Dozens of new affordable homes are going to be built in Nova Scotia.
The province says the 64 units in Middleton, Windsor, Shubenacadie and Springhill are part of the 515 coming over the next five years.
The design work is now underway that will confirm the number and size of units, size and shape of the buildings, access to the sites and other design detail.
Once design work is complete, tenders will be issued.
There will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments at:
– Sunset Crescent in Middleton, up to 24 apartments
– Crossley Court in Windsor, up to 16
– Mill Village Road in Shubenacadie, up to 16
– Junction Road in Springhill, up to eight
There will be a ren-geared-to-income model, meaning tenants do not pay more than 30 per cent of their gross income on rent.
Construction could start as soon as the spring.
