RCMP in Lunenburg County have seized a collection of firearms and improvised incendiary devices from a home in Chester Basin following a search late last week.
The investigation began on January 21 when Halifax District RCMP received a report that a man had made threats involving firearms.
Police were told that weapons were being stored at a home in Chester Basin, and the Lunenburg District detachment assumed control of the case.
On January 23, officers from several RCMP units executed a search warrant at the residence. Police say they seized nine firearms, including two restricted weapons, along with ammunition, magazines, and completed improvised incendiary devices. They also found parts used to assemble additional devices.
A man from Chester Basin was arrested at the detachment and later released pending a future court appearance on firearms‑related charges.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing with support from national weapons and intelligence teams.
