Today is celebrated as Doctor’s Day in Nova Scotia.  There are a number of events planned with Nova Scotia Health around the day as well for 2025.

We were lucky enough to have a chance to take the tour of South Shore Regional Hospital and see the progress of the new expansion.  After the Brighter Days Campaign with the Health Services Foundation raised over ten million dollars, we are seeing huge progress with the new additions at SSRH.  At this point there is no certain date for the grand opening, but things are looking good.  We snapped a few pictures during the walk through, so let’s take a peek at some of the highlights.

We start with a look at the new Entrance.

 

The new Emergency Department is impressive

 

One of the highlights of this expansion is the MRI coming to Bridgewater.  Right now that area looks like it is a long way from completion, but you can see the hole where the unit will be lowered through the roof.  I guess we could consider this the MRI nest area.

 

There will be a Dialysis area, and an ambulance bay so patients will be protected from the elements when they are moved.
There is also an area for patients to wait when they arrive by ambulance that is not in the hallway.

All of these additions are so exciting and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to walk through the completed facility.
