Halifax will host two regular-season games from the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) this winter, as part of the league’s expanded Takeover Tour initiative for the 2025–26 season.
The PWHL announced Monday that it will stage 16 neutral-site games across North America, bringing professional women’s hockey to cities outside the league’s eight home markets.
Halifax is among five cities selected to host two games, alongside Edmonton, Detroit, Denver, and Chicago.
The first game at Scotiabank Centre is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m., featuring a matchup between the Montréal Victoire and the Toronto Sceptres.
The second game will take place on Sunday, January 11 at 12:00 p.m., with the Boston Fleet facing the Ottawa Charge.
The Takeover Tour is designed to introduce the league to new audiences and build interest in professional women’s hockey across Canada and the United States.
Last season’s tour drew more than 120,000 fans across nine games, with many attendees experiencing a PWHL game for the first time.
“The passion and support from fans, and the enthusiasm from cities eager to engage with our league, have fueled our ambition to grow the Tour for Season Three,” said Amy Scheer, PWHL Executive Vice President of Business Operations.
The Province of Nova Scotia is a presenting partner for the December 17 game.
Tickets for both Halifax games go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 14, at 10 a.m., with presales beginning the day before.
Tickets can be purchased through the league’s website at thepwhl.com/tickets.
The PWHL currently features eight teams, including recent expansion franchises in Seattle and Vancouver.
All teams will participate in the Takeover Tour, with each playing at least three games in neutral venues.
