If you bought *packaged bread between 2001 and 2021 for personal use, you can sign up to be part of the national settlement reached with Loblaw Companies and its parent company George Weston Limited. (*packaged Bread is any and all packaged bread products and bread alternatives including, but not limited to, bagged bread, buns, rolls, bagels, naan bread, English muffins, wraps, pita and tortillas, but excluding bread frozen when sold and bread baked on-site in the establishment where it is sold)
This is the $500 million bread price fixing class action settlement. Basically, the companies were accused of price fixing the cost of bread products with drove up the price for us.
The amount of compensation we will get isn’t clear yet as it will be determined by, among other factors, the number of claims that are approved.
The deadline to submit a claim is December 12, 2025. You will need to supply information identifying yourself and confirming your eligibility to claim but no proof of purchase (receipt showing bread purchase) is needed.
You can submit your claim here.
In the email confirmation I received, it says that it will take 6-12 months for us to get our dough.
