Team Christina Black of Halifax is one step away from representing Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics, after punching their ticket to the women’s final at the Canadian Curling Trials.
Black’s rink defeated Manitoba’s Team Kerri Einarson 6–3 on Thursday afternoon, powered by a decisive three-point ninth end that broke open a tight game.
It was Black’s first-ever victory over an Einarson-skipped team.
The matchup remained close through much of the afternoon, with the teams trading singles and entering the ninth tied 3–3. When Einarson missed a difficult triple takeout, Black was left with a draw for three, erupting the Scotiabank Centre crowd.
The win sends Black, vice-skip Jill Brothers, and front-enders Marlee Powers, Karlee Everist and Jenn Baxter into a best-of-three final against Team Rachel Homan of Ottawa — the reigning Canadian and World champions.
The winner will be nominated to the Canadian Olympic Committee as Canada’s women’s curling team for Milan 2026.
The final series begins Friday at 1 p.m. Atlantic, with Game Two Saturday at 1 p.m. and Game Three, if needed, on Sunday.
Homan has won six straight against Team Black, including an 8–2 round-robin victory last weekend.
