New electric vehicle fast chargers are now online at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre, adding another charging option for drivers on the South Shore.
The chargers were officially opened Tuesday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the LCLC, with representatives from the Town of Bridgewater, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia Power and the facility on hand.
The installation includes 180-kilowatt Level 3 DC fast chargers, capable of providing a quick charge for electric vehicles.
The site features two CCS connectors and two NACS connectors, allowing compatibility with a wide range of EVs.
Drivers can access the chargers using the ChargeLab app.
Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell said the new chargers help position the LCLC as a destination while also supporting people passing through the area who need a fast charge.
The chargers are owned and operated by Nova Scotia Power, which also sets the pricing.
The current rate is 68 cents per kilowatt hour. The LCLC has a lease agreement in place with Nova Scotia Power for the use of the parking spaces and land where the units are located.
No public funds were used for the installation.
According to Nova Scotia Power, the project is part of a broader effort to expand fast-charging infrastructure across the province. The LCLC is one of 15 new Level 3 fast-charging locations being added along major highways and in rural communities.
