Lunenburg District RCMP have charged a 25‑year‑old man from North York, Ontario, and a 20‑year‑old man from Coquitlam, British Columbia, after officers recovered two stolen vehicles and a stolen firearm in Hubbards last week.
The investigation began on February 12, when officers were called to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Mill Lake Road. Police determined the grey Honda Civic had been reported stolen.
While officers were still on scene, a second vehicle—a black Hyundai Elantra—approached. RCMP say the two occupants immediately fled on foot after spotting police.
One man was arrested right away. Additional RCMP resources, including Police Dog Services and an RCMP drone operator, were brought in to search for the second suspect. He was located about an hour later near Exit 6 on Highway 103 and taken into custody without incident.
Investigators later confirmed the second vehicle had also been reported stolen.
During a search of the Hyundai, officers found a firearm that was likewise confirmed to be stolen.
Both men appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on February 17 and are facing multiple charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, obstruction, and several weapons offences.
They remain in custody awaiting future court dates.
