A six-year-old Bayview student’s upbeat video on bus safety has won him $500.
Rowan Zwicker created the video with the help of his mother and submitted it to Safety Services Nova Scotia’s school bus safety awareness contest.
The video had to demonstrate the importance of motorists stopping for red bus lights.
Rowan’s grandmother is a bus driver and his mother Natasha says that inspired him.
“He got to go right on the bus and video tape that way and … he did all the reading and all the acting.”
The Grade 1 student narrated his video in rhyme after writing the script with his mother.
“I know that I have four children and I wouldn’t want anything to happen them and I know people would probably feel bad if they ended up hitting a child when they pass the bus,” says Natasha.
His video won him the top prize for grades primary through six which he was presented with earlier today.
