An officer with The Salvation Army in Lunenburg County says it’s been another successful year for their Christmas Kettle campaign.
Major Wilson Sutton says the charitable organization collected $70,160.
Sutton says the generosity and support of people helped them surpass their goal by just over $5,000.
“I was a little concerned around the 17 of December with the numbers, we were down a bit. But, I’m very pleased with how things happened.”
Over 140 volunteers helped collect money at Salvation Army kettles around the Bridgewater-area ahead of Christmas.
Sutton says money that wasn’t used to help people at Christmas will be used to provide support year-round to needy families.
