An idea 30 years in the making has finally become a reality for a Lunenburg county heritage site.
Ross Farm is unveiling their new Learning Centre this weekend.
The centre will provide classes and seminars for people who want to learn about traditional ways to grow food and make cloth.
Director Lisa Wolfe says these types of skills are both trendy and useful.
“We’re never going to get away from the factory for food production on the large scale,” she says, “But I think it’s really important that people learn the basics.”
She says they hope to help people get back to a more traditional way of doing things.
“Gardening is huge, preserving is a big thing, you know, natural dying, weaving, natural fibers…it’s just a whole, beautiful, movement going on right now.”
The grand opening is today with classes expected to begin in the fall.
