Visitors to Firkinstein Brewing on King Street will notice familiar markers on the walls.
Firkinstein Brewing Owners Adam Sarty and Devin Fraser have been collecting the signs from a number of iconic businesses who have recently shut their doors.
Fraser recounts how their collection started.
“Adam and I were having a beer, looking out the window and they were tearing the Sagors building. We saw that sign over there and it just seemed like, what a waste of history. So we ran over and begged them for the sign.”
Fraser says the signs are nostalgic for some and they’re happy to keep the memories of these Bridgewater institutions alive.
“I met the wonderful lady that owned the Sagors’ Bookstore and when I told her about the sign being here, she was overwhelmed with happiness. It was kind of awesome.”
In addition to Sagors’ Bookstore, the two have added signs from Rofihe’s Menswear and most recently, Town’s End Strings and Things.
Fraser says while their walls are starting to fill up, he feels they still have space for a few more.
