Closures of restaurants and rest stops due to the pandemic means truckers are finding it hard to grab a meal on the road.
After learning of these challenges Michelin wanted to do something to help.
For the month of May they are providing bag lunches, free of charge, to long-distance truckers leaving their plants in Pictou County, Waterville and Bridgewater, said Nicole Vuotto, Internal Communications Manager for Michelin.
“It’s really our way of saying thank you to all the men and women keeping Michelin operations and our communities as a whole running smoothly.”
The initiative was launched May 11 and approximately 35 lunches are distributed each day at the gatehouse. Each bag consists of a sandwich, drink, chips or snack and a dessert.
Truckers who receive the lunches have been very appreciative and employees are happy to put a smile on the driver’s face, said Vuotto.
