The Springfield fire is now contained and under control-that’s the good news coming from NS Lands & Forestry.
They tweeted the update at 5:45 pm saying that all helicopters had been released, although 13 NS Lands & Forestry staff remained to monitor for hotspots.
Fire crews from Annapolis, Kings and Lunenburg County had been working to bring the blaze under control since it started on May 25.
Dry conditions, high temperatures and low humidity have led to other forest fires across the province in Chester Grant, Porter’s Lake, Grand Mira South, Havre Boucher and Argyle.
Chester Grant and Porter’s Lake have experienced minor flare ups since the sites were contained.
Grand Mira South, Havre Boucher and Argyle are all now considered under control, monitoring for hot spots will continue.
Due to conditions the province has issued a province-wide fire ban, which includes backyard and pit fires.
